MoLab, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, was founded by two passionate women who shared a vision to go beyond the confinement of a physical location to offer exciting experiences that promote curiosity and understanding of the sciences. With over 27 years of combined science center experience, the founders of MoLab are knowledgeable, informal educators who are able to drive home the importance of STEM education.
MoLab officially launched in October 2013 and has provided innovative, hands-on programming to schools, after-school programs, and outreach events; executed its camp program, Camp Spark – Igniting Knowledge! during the winter, spring, and summer breaks; created community partnerships; received grants; purchased an RV; and positively affected the lives of the children we served. To-date, MoLab has served 15,389 students and families.
Soon, MoLab will be participating in an Indiegogo campaign to help raise the funds needed to retrofit the 32 ft. RV lovingly referred to as MoBus. The vision for MoBus is for it to be a cutting-edge vehicle utilizing environmentally friendly technologies and advancements. MoBus will run on biodiesel and have solar panels located on the roof. The inside of MoBus will feature microscopy stations, an entomology and biology wall, work stations, and televisions throughout for microscope projections and demonstrations. Outside, utilizing environmentally friendly paint, MoBus will be bright, colorful, and inviting as well as incorporate fun science facts.
It has been a wonderful ride for the founders of MoLab and we know this is just the beginning! We are proud to be a member of the Mobile Laboratory Coalition and welcome any input or advice from the MLC membership regarding the retrofit process.
